This book turns largely to the Public Domain to address the need for collections of lyrics and chords focused on providing guitarlele players with a packaged repertoire that they can both immediately enjoy and showcase to others. A Guitarlele Beginner’s Songbook: Lyrics and Chords for 50+ Classic Children’s Songs Adapted to the Guitarlele for Kids of All Ages is just that, lyrics with guitarlele specific chords. It is strictly no frills - no sheet music, no tab. The simple goal is to get first-time players strumming and singing along to a favorite song. Both numbered and arranged by alphabet, the collection is easy to navigate; you can quickly turn to the hymn or song of your choice. Chords have been chosen for their playability and to compliment the A to A tuning of the guitarlele. Chords are boldfaced in brackets within the text of each lyric, right at the syllable where each is to be struck, then strummed until the next chord is displayed: [C] I've been workin' on the railroad, [F] All the live long [C] day.I've been workin' on the railroad, [D] Just to pass the time [G] away. All of the tunes and most of the lyrics are Public Domain, so there is no copyright barrier against performing them in local church, school, and social group settings. The majority are widely known or are easily accessible. Camp and Road trip Songs like: Clementine and The More We get Together. Folk Songs like: Down in the Valley and Skip to My Lou. Holiday Songs like: Jingle Bells! and Over the River and Through the Woods. Nursery Rhymes like: Humpty Dumpty and This Old Man; plus a selection of Sunday School Favorites, Spirituals, and Hymns. Some feature original verses written by Jim Henkel. Six complete, original lyrics by Jim Henkel are also included. Although collected for the guitarlele, ukulele players and guitarists can also tap into A Guitarlele Beginner’s Songbook: Lyrics and Chords for 50+ Classic Children’s Songs Adapted to the Guitarlele for Kids of All Ages.
