A Guitarlele Hymnbook: Lyrics and Chords for 50+ Classic Hymns and Spiritual Songs
•Guitarlele specific chords that complement the instrument’s A to A tuning.•Precise chords that appear right at the syllable each should be played.•Playable chords, chosen for ease of fingering.•Guitarlele chord chart included.•Updated pronouns and verbs in some selections.•Bonus verses, five or more in some selections.•Original verses by Jim Henkel in some selections.•Six completely original lyrics by Jim Henkel.•Fully attributed with author name, composer name, and tune name (when known).Although the guitarlele (guitlele, guilele) is widely growing in popularity as a musical instrument, there are very few guitarlele specific songbooks available. This book turns largely to the Public Domain to address the need for collections of lyrics and chords focused on providing guitarlele players with a packaged repertoire that they can both immediately enjoy and showcase to others. A Guitarlele Hymbook: Lyrics and Chords for 50+ Classic Hymns and Spiritual Songs Adapted to the Guitarlele is just that, lyrics with guitarlele specific chords. It is strictly no frills - no sheet music, no tab. The simple goal is to get players strumming and singing along to a favorite spiritual song or beloved hymn. Both numbered and arranged by alphabet, the collection is easy to navigate; you can quickly turn to the hymn or song of your choice. Chords have been chosen for their playability and to compliment the A to A tuning of the guitarlele. Chords are boldfaced in brackets within the text of each lyric, right at the syllable where each is to be struck, then strummed until the next chord is displayed: [C] All the way my Savior leads me; What have [G] I to ask be- [C] side? Can I [F] doubt His faithful [G] mercies, Who through [D] life has been my [G] guide? All of the tunes and most of the lyrics are Public Domain, so there is no copyright barrier against performing them in local church and social group settings. The majority are widely known or are easily accessible. Hymns like: Amazing Grace, Fairest Lord Jesus, In the Garden, Sweet Hour of Prayer. Spiritual Songs like: Down by the Riverside, Go Down Moses, Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam, This Train. Several have bonus verses in addition to the three or four verses commonly found in other sources. Some feature original verses written by Jim Henkel. Six complete, original lyrics by Jim Henkel are also included. Although collected for the guitarlele, ukulele players and guitarists can also tap into A Guitarlele Hymnbook: Lyrics and Chords for 50+ Classic Hymns and Spiritual Songs Adapted to the Guitarlele. It is a ready source for adding a traditional element to the contemporary Christian music repertoire of many church praise teams; or a breath of faith to accompany the secular selections chosen by many ukulele clubs. Enjoy! - Jim Henkel
